An Introduction to Financial Analysis and Equity Valuation
Is that stock a good investment? What’s that company worth? These seem like simple questions, but making sound investment decisions is not easy—particularly in volatile markets. The first part of this course is designed to show students how to analyze a company’s financial statements, how to compare companies in the same industry and how to think about a company’s valuation in the stock market. The last part of the course will deal with important financial topics such as inflation, leverage and risk. We will analyze companies such as Apple, Nestle, Nike, Toyota, WalMart, and several smaller high-growth companies. Students will also have the opportunity to evaluate companies of their choice.
