Brunswick School - Courage, Honor, Truth

Middle School Galleries & Portfolios

The Brunswick Middle School Art Curriculum includes the development of skills and vocabulary that builds with each successive year using new materials. In each classes, a personal voice is developed and shared through their visual creations. Every assignment has key technical and creative objectives. Within these parameters, students express their ideas in a variety of ways.

The materials used are printmaking, painting, colored pencils, ceramics, oil pastels, glass etching, mosaic tiles, and charcoal. The process involves two-dimensional and three-dimensional design. Professional art is a starting point of a lesson to allow the students to be exposed to work unlike their own; in addition it is a way to incorporate art history as it pertains to their own lessons. By looking at their work and the work of others, students develop the process of seeing the visual world they live in.
