Brunswick School - Courage, Honor, Truth

The Upper School theatre program includes academic courses and club activities. The courses offered are: Acting I for the novice and advanced (Honors) Acting for those who have qualified through audition, and an Actors Lab course which allows a gifted acting student to pursue a particular area of theatre on an independent basis. In addition, there are three extracurricular productions during the school year on the Brunswick campus. In the fall, there is a play involving both Brunswick and Greenwich Academy ninth through twelfth graders. In the winter, a main stage musical is put on. In the spring, there is an another play the purpose of which is to stretch the talents of experienced upperclassmen, the school's veteran actors. The latter is occasionally a "black box" production. Greenwich Academy also directs several productions which are performed at Massey Theater on the GA campus. All productions include both Brunswick and Greenwich Academy Upper School students.
Seth PotterThe Middle School theatre program offers participation in a Middle School repertory company. This company works as an ensemble on the learning technique of improvisation. In the Spring, they perform for their peers and parents.
Other drama opportunities in the Middle School include a musical, either a book show or a crafted "revusical". This production is done jointly with Greenwich Academy in the fall. In the spring, there is a festival of one act plays. Both productions provide a more formal introduction to the technique and demands of the theatre and introduce girls, as a very important component in a show.Through these productions Middle School students can have their first opportunity to do back stage "tech" work.
