Host Family Program
The Host Family program assists new families in feeling welcomed and comfortable at Brunswick. New families are assigned a current family to act as "host" and to offer a friendly and informative hand during the first transition year. Host families work with both the new students and their parents. It is an underlying assumption that happy and well-informed parents are equipped to help a new family and student adjust to the new environment. Every new student, even though he may have a sibling already at the school, is assigned a host family.
Host families volunteer to be part of the program and are then placed with
compatible new families. While children may not become "best friends"
with the new children, it is expected that the host children will be helpful
and understanding of the new student's feelings and concerns about making
friends and starting at a new school.
Thank you to all those who volunteered to be host families for the boys entering Brunswick in 2004-2005. We know that your welcome, friendship and guidance will be instrumental in easing the transition for the new boys and their families. Please continue to stay in contact with your new family over the summer and especially as the first day of school approaches. Your help and enthusiasm is an enormous part of the Brunswick spirit.
