Computers are everywhere in the Lower School - in offices, classrooms, the computer lab and on mobile lab carts. Teachers and students use digital still and video cameras and presentations are viewed through projectors and on big television screens. Technology is woven into the whole of Lower School life.

Kindergartners through fourth graders experience a range of projects in their computer classes. In addition to basic computer literacy the boys learn word processing, responsible use of the Internet and how to use Brunswick's e-mail system. In second grade they are introduced to keyboarding, which is increasingly emphasized as classroom work requires typed information. Fourth graders finish their tenure in the Lower School with a PowerPoint presentation about themselves and their interests.
In addition, boys use programs which reinforce classroom studies of language arts, social studies and math and which encourage problem solving and logical thinking. Rounding out the Lower School computer curriculum are projects creating graphs and graphics, working with digital photographs, and introducing LOGO programming.
The Lower School's mobile lab of iBook laptops brings computing to third and fourth graders in their classrooms. Boys write papers, search the Internet for information and do other research wirelessly from their desks. With digital cameras recording assemblies, field trips and special events, photos and videos are available for printing, posting on the web, and incorporating into presentations. Students learn that technology is an integral part of our School and our society and an important tool for learning.
