Middle School News May/June 2008
From Sarah Burdett:
The evidence of spring can be found in every corner of the Middle School. The always meticulously kept grounds are greening up on cue; baseball and lacrosse practices are in full swing; the annual bocce tournament is being held during recess; songs are being rehearsed for the many spring concerts and productions to come. The sun works its springtime magic on Middle School temperaments as well. Energy, laughter, and expectation define each day’s mood. In the classrooms Fifth Graders are diligently researching their social studies papers and learning the dance moves for “Fives Go Coast to Coast.” Sixth Graders are acting roles in “A Raisin in the Sun” as they study the text in their English classes. In Seventh Grade, the boys have completed wing labs in their study of the skeletal system and debated the ideas of politics, loyalty, and friendship in “Julius Caesar.” Our Eighth Grade language students all recently took their national exams; we celebrated many certificates of merit and medals received during recent morning meetings. Finally, we are proud of all of the academic, artistic, and athletic accomplishments of Middle Schoolers this year, and we would like to thank all of the parents in our community for supporting their boys and the school. All parents, students, and teachers have earned a summer of rest, reading, and time in the sun. Enjoy!
