BPA Community Service

Wick Walk Run:  The annual Wick Walk Run is held Saturday morning of Homecoming Weekend.  The race starts at the Maher Avenue campus. There are generally 50 to 75 participants of all ages following a two-mile race course. The race is meant to promote community spirit and good will within the extended Brunswick community including alumni and Greenwich Academy families.

Middle School Community Service Effort: The Middle School has recently initiated a program offering worthwhile opportunities for students to participate in local community service projects. Boys donate their time and effort volunteering at Adopt-a-Dog, the Audubon Society, and Family Centers on several Friday afternoons during the school year.

Fundance Sneaker Drive: During the 2007-2008 school year the BPA Community Service committee started collecting used sneakers in partnership with Greenwich Recycling. These sneakers were recycled by Nike into rubber granulate pellets and used to create playgrounds, athletic surfaces and soccer balls, many of which were donated to children in need both in the U.S. and abroad. This program will be offered again at the Fundance Film Festival. Last year over 350 pairs of sneakers were collected. In addition several hundred dollars were raised for ninemillion.org , which supports education and sport programs for refugee children around the world.

Holiday Community Service Resource: In December, the BPA will send all Brunswick families a listing of several charitable organizations in the area which provide assistance to people in need. Included in this list  are organizations which can provide a variety of one-on-one experiences and learning opportunities for parents and children.
