BPA Committees

The standing committees are staffed by the BPA to help accomplish our objectives.  Committee chairs and co-chairs are members of the BPA Board.  The Board typically is comprised of one-third new members, one-third rollover members, and one-third returning members, and represents all divisions of the school.  Committee heads typically serve two-year terms (first as co-chair, then as chair), and then step down from the BPA for at least a year. 

The Arts Committee is responsible for supporting the middle and upper school visual, theater, and musical arts curriculum and the Arts faculty.  The main focus will be enhancing publicity within the Brunswick community. 

The Assemblies Committee is responsible for organizing speakers and presentations for student assemblies in all the divisions of the school.

The Athletics Committee assists the Athletic Director and coaches in supporting school sports teams in middle and upper school, organizing team parents and transportation as needed.

The Bear Fair Committee coordinates the annual day of food, fun and games geared to the younger boys in pre- and lower school.

The Bear Hugs Committee is responsible for organizing support for current school families, faculty and staff during challenging times.

The Bearly Used Closet Committee oversees the solicitation and resale of gently used school uniforms, sports clothing and selected sports equipment.

The Benefit Committee is responsible for planning and executing the major annual fundraiser, alternately a community-building event and an auction/dinner-dance.

The Book Fair Committee oversees the annual multi-day sale of books and holiday items to raise funds and the coordination of donations of books to all our libraries.

The Community Service Committee is responsible for supporting the faculty community service chairmen in the middle and upper schools, assessing opportunities for student service projects and coordinating transportation as needed.  This committee also oversees the annual ‘Wick Walk-Run, a two-mile fun “race” for students, faculty, and parents. The Diversity Committee is the liaison between the school Diversity Coordinator and the BPA, coordinating multicultural celebrations projects in all divisions and helping to identify opportunities for student and parent diversity education.

The Fundance Committee hosts a weekend of films about the lives of children and young adults from around the world, hoping to open minds, link hearts, and provoke curiositiy.  The weekend also includes a student film competition.

The Happenings Committee oversees various social events for seventh and eighth graders and their counterparts from selected girls’ schools.

The Hospitality Committee is responsible for decorations and set-up for the Annual Dinner,  Father/Son Dinner,BPA turn-over meeting and various other school functions.

The Mayfair Committee coordinates the instructional dance classes for fifth and sixth graders and their counterparts from selected girls’ schools.

The Nominating Committee is responsible for selecting and soliciting candidates for the following year’s BPA Board, for approval by BPA members at a spring meeting.

The Parents Programs Committee coordinates meetings and lectures for parents on relevant parenting topics in conjunction with Greenwich Academy.

The Publicity Committee is responsible for publicizing the activities and events of the BPA throughout the year, both within the school and in the community at large.

The Teacher Appreciation Committee oversees the efforts of parents to express there thanks to school faculty and staff throughout the school year.

The Ways and Means Committee is responsible for evaluating potential fundraising opportunities in an effort to find subtle means of financial support for the various educational, informational and social events the BPA presents for the enrichment of the Brunswick community.
