As September arrives, it is hard to ignore the strong pull back to a fresh start and regular routine. Our teachers have been busy preparing their classrooms for the year and we are all excited for the arrival of your sons in just a few days. The September calendar stands in strong contrast to what many of us experienced in the lazy days of August. Please take note of the following important dates and details and do not hesitate to call if you need further clarification. 

 

New Student Orientation: Pre and Lower SchoolVisiting Day is Tuesday, September 2^nd.   All Pre School boys are invited to come see their classroom and meet their teachers from 9:30-10:30 a.m. In addition, all First Graders and new students in grades 2, 3 or 4 are encouraged to come to the Lower School from 11 a.m. to 12 noon.

 

 

Lower School Summer Work Packets: Boys entering Second, Third and Fourth Grades were responsible for assigned summer work in reading, writing and math. Please make sure your son comes with his completed summer packet on the first day of school.

 

Class Coffees: By now, you should have received an invitation for your son’s grade level coffee. At this meeting, we will take time to share some important details of your son’s academic year and you will also hear from one of our special subject teachers. Representatives from the BPA will share information about the year’s activities and invite your participation in many. Please come with your calendar, as it is a wonderful opportunity to sign up for special events and take note of important dates to remember.

 

After School Activities: A list of Lower School Encore offerings was enclosed in our August mailing. If you would like your son to participate and have not yet submitted a sign-up form, please make sure to return it by Wednesday, September 3rd to the Lower School Office. Spots fill quickly and I know our Encore Coordinators will be working hard to accommodate each family’s requests and needs to the best of their ability. All Clubs will begin the week of September 15^th. If you are interested and have not yet registered for our after school child care program , Yearlings, please direct your inquiries to Beth Barsanti at the Pre School.

 

School Photos:  Individual and class photographs are scheduled for Wednesday, September 10^th. Please make sure your son comes to school neatly dressed. Lower School boys are to be in full uniform and brown sweaters are required.

 

Pre School Curriculum Night: An important night for all Pre School parents is Wednesday, September 24^th. At 7 pm the evening will begin with an opportunity for you to visit your son’s classroom, view his work and meet his teachers. The teachers will present their curriculum, daily classroom routines and general goals and expectations for the year.

 

In just a short while we will hit the ground running with a new school year in full gear filled with many exciting events. Please refer to the above information as much of it applies to both Pre and Lower School divisions. To ease the transition from summer to school days, both Pre Kindergarten and Kindergarten follow an abbreviated schedule from September 3^rd through September 9^th. Please be sure to refer to this schedule that was enclosed in the August mailing. We welcome our many new families and all returning families to the Pre School. We hope that you will contact us if you have any questions.
