Letter from College Guidance Office
Letter from College Guidance Office
Dear Parents and Students:
Welcome to the college counseling process at Brunswick School. Whether you have been through this process already with an older child or if this is your first experience with the myriad issues that surround this "rite of passage," we hope that you will find this area of the Brunswick School website to be a helpful tool.
In many ways, the college process seems daunting to students as well as parents. Invariably, at some point in the process, there is an unavoidable element of selection that can be either rewarding or potentially disappointing. In other ways, however, the process may be looked upon as perhaps the first opportunity in your son's life when he is in a position to make significant decisions, not only about how he will spend his next four years, but also about the direction of his life.
For most, the process will be a mixture of both sentiments to greater or lesser degrees as we go forward. To that end, please rest assured that we will be with him (and you as parents) every step of the way. We, as well as a host of other adults in our community (from advisors to coaches to teachers to Headmaster Tom Philip), are committed to a successful outcome for each and every boy in this senior class.

Finally, remember that THERE ARE NO "SILLY" QUESTIONS. Call or come by any time. We genuinely welcome your calls and/or visits. There is simply no replacement for frequent and honest communication between all parties in the process.
Sincerely,
Douglas M. Burdett, Director of College Guidance
Rick Beattie '80, Associate Director of College Guidance
Margot Beattie, Associate Director of College Guidance
Sharon Palmer, College Guidance Assistant
