Every Upper School student signs up for one sport during each season. In the ninth grade all boys play three seasons of an interscholastic sport. Depending on individual preference in tenth and eleventh grades, a student may choose an intramural sport for one of the other two seasons. Seniors are required to participate in only one season of interscholastic sports but are required to participate in our intramural program or may pursue an alternate athletic activity during the other two seasons. The alternate athletic activity must be approved by the Athletic Director. The interscholastic sports offered in Upper School include baseball, basketball, crew, cross country, fencing, football, golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, sailing, soccer, squash, tennis, track, ultimate frisbee, water polo, and wrestling. Brunswick is a member of the Fairchester Athletic Association and the Western New England Preparatory Schools Athletic Council. The Bruins teams have a longstanding tradition of success which has earned them regional and nationwide recognition. Most of the coaches at Brunswick are also teachers, so sports offer the boys a chance to enrich their rapport with individual faculty.
There is a strong tradition at Brunswick of students supporting the various athletic teams by attending games and cheering from the sidelines. Brunswick is a member of the Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA), the Western New England Preparatory Schools Athletic Association (WNEPSA) and the New England Preparatory Schools Athletic Council (NEPSAC).
