Brunswick School - Courage, Honor, Truth

Apply to Brunswick

If you are a parent of a prospective student, please contact the appropriate Admission Office to set up an appointment to visit Brunswick.

During your visit with the school, the admission staff will discuss the curriculum and the School's philosophy, give a tour of the facilities, walk you through the application process and answer any questions the family may have. We recommend you set aside at least an hour for this visit.

Brunswick also hosts admission receptions in the fall for Lower and Middle School as well as Pre School. There is no reception of the Upper School, prospective families are encouraged to visit during school hours by appointment.

Admission Receptions

The Brunswick Admission Receptions for Pre, Lower and Middle Schools are held in the fall.  Attending the admission reception is for informational purposes only and not a requirement for admission. We encourage all interested families to contact our Brunswick Admission offices if you are interested in applying.

  • Lower & Middle School Admission Reception: Sunday, October 28, 2012 from 1 to 3 pm
  • Pre School Admission Reception: Sunday, November 11, 2012 from 1 to 3 pm
  • Upper School Admission: By appointment only.

Admission Application Information

The admission application should be completed and returned to Brunswick together with the application fee by the deadline of December 15th.  Any application received after this date will be processed based on availability.  It is important that all questions in the application be answered as fully as possible. Candidates for grades nine through twelve are asked to submit a written essay that has been marked and graded by a teacher.

Candidates are required to visit Brunswick. This allows the applicant and the School a chance to get to know each other. Boys are made to feel welcome and comfortable during this visit, and it is a good time for the candidate to get a true feeling for the life and spirit of the School. Middle and Upper School candidates can visit any time during the school year (preferably before February). Pre and Lower School visits begin in mid-October. Please call the Admission office to set up this visit.

Forms for the release of transcripts and for teacher recommendations are enclosed with the application. It is the parents' responsibility to get these to their son's school office and to his teacher for completion. Return envelopes to Brunswick School should be enclosed for the convenience of your son's teacher and school.

All admission candidates for grades three through twelve must take standardized tests. Applicants for grades three and four will take the ERB Comprehensive Testing Program (CTP) IV tests. Students applying for grades five through twelve may take either the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE) or the Secondary Schools Admission Test (SSAT). The ISEE and ERB exams are administered at Brunswick and a number of other area schools. If you would like an ISEE Student Guide, please contact the Admission Office or the ISEE Operations Office at (800)446-0320. Visit the SSAT or ISEE sites to download booklets and registration forms for either test.

The Admission Committee meets in February, and the letters of notification are mailed the last Friday in February. For a candidate to be considered for admission decisions, all completed materials must be returned to Brunswick by January 15th. Families are encouraged to contact the Admission Office if questions should arise any time during the process.
